Cookies make people happy, and that was definitely the case for the Emporia Public Schools’ annual cookie delivery Wednesday.
District Director of Community Relations Lyndel Landgren says it’s reinvigorating to see the work teachers and staffers do as part of Cookie Delivery Day.
The cookie delivery sprint across town has always included short interviews from every district school and building on KVOE, and this year was no exception. Emporia High teacher Martha MacKay says teachers and staff are energized daily by their interactions with their students. They are also charged up by watching other teachers and staffers do their jobs.
At Maintenance and Supply, Keri Paul highlights the often-unseen work of staff to set the table for student success — much of which is coming through the district’s embrace of the Capturing Kids Hearts education model.
The district delivered 1,500 cookies Wednesday as part of a collaborative effort involving the Emporia NEA, Emporia State Federal Credit Union and Country Mart.
