The No. 6 seed Emporia State volleyball team couldn’t slow down No. 3 seed Central Oklahoma falling 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 to the #9 Bronchos in the first round of the MIAA volleyball tournament at the St. Joseph Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo. on Thursday afternoon. Playing the top 10 ‘Chos for the second-straight match, the Lady Hornet offense fared far better than in the regular season finale managing 36 kills while hitting .153, but could not slow down the Bronze & Blue as UCO blistered the ESU block hitting .411 with 47 kills and just three errors on 107 swings. Weronika Wrzesinska led the way with 15 kills. ESU falls to 17-10 on the year. The Lady Hornets were 10th in the final regional rankings to end the regular season and will await their NCAA postseason fate.
