While you’re out and about shopping for the holiday season, you may begin to notice the sound of bells in the air.
That’s because the 2024 Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign officially began Friday and will continue over the next month. The annual campaign is the Salvation Army’s largest and most recognized national fundraiser, helping to support the agency’s services to community members during what can be one of the hardest times of the year.
With that in mind, Salvation Army Captain Mylie Hadden, during an interview on KVOE’s Morning Show Friday, stated they need many volunteers to step up and man the kettles over the next several weeks.
Local media will be doing its part this weekend as the annual media challenge will take place Saturday. Employees of KVOE will be manning the kettle at Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply from 8 am to noon Saturday.
Other notable bell-ringing events include the $20 match day at WalMart on December 7 and Badges United on December 14. In addition to Bluestem, kettles will also be located at WalMart, Hobby Lobby, Good’s Cash Saver, Country Mart and Dillons.
People can sign up for the various kettle locations and choose their times at registertoring.com. The fundraising goal for this year is $40,000 with an anonymous donor offering a $10,000 match if that goal is reached.
