A status conference is next in the case of an Emporia man accused of child rape in Lyon County District Court.
Erik Alvarez will return to court Dec. 19 after a motion hearing earlier this month was canceled.
Alvarez faces one count of rape after alleged illegal sexual activity with a child under the age of 18 in January 2021. Court records indicate the alleged victim was no more than 14 years old at the reported incident.
Trial is tentatively set to begin either Jan. 27 or Feb. 3. A trial status hearing is on the docket for Jan. 22.
