Progress continues for the 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project.
The latest sign of that progress is reopening Prairie between 15th to 18th for both lanes of traffic beginning next week. Travel has been northbound-only for several weeks as new waterlines have been installed, and the city of Emporia says there will still be two closures of note: the Ashley II entrance and Prairie Lane. Those closures will be separately, involving connections to the new water main, as part of a process that could last into early December.
Construction has been underway since early summer and could go into fall 2025. Over two miles of new waterline are being installed as part of this project to improve reliability and balance water pressure across town.
