Saturday night’s house fire in Olpe was sandwiched between two reported structure fires in northwest Emporia.
In fact, Emporia Fire had just finished responding to a reported fire at Four Seasons Apartments when the Olpe fire was toned out. Emporia Fire Capt. Greg Davis says there was no fire, but there was an apparent mechanical issue that led to the fire report.
Meanwhile, Emporia fire crews were also dispatched to Ross Dress for Less shortly before 10:30 pm. Emporia Fire Capt. Michael Nunley says there was a smell resembling smoke, but there was no fire in the building.
