Emporia State quarterback Gunnar Gundy announced that he was in the transfer portal on Thursday afternoon. Gundy was Third Team All-MIAA in his one season at Emporia State and passed for 2751 yards and 23 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions while rushing for 299 yards and five more touchdowns. Gundy finished third in the country in total offense at 305 yards per game and was eighth in the nation in passing. Gundy, who previously spent three years at Oklahoma State, made the announcement on Twitter and has one year of eligibility remaining. The Hornets finished 7-4 in 2024 with a 5-4 record in MIAA play.
