The Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission has a busy meeting slate ahead Tuesday.
At the forefront are two items connected to what could be a significant residential and commercial development in far west Emporia. Planning Commission members will review a preliminary Planned Unit Development document and a preliminary plat, or layout, for the Cedarbrook Meadows development at 4500 West 18th.
City Planning and Zoning Administrator Justin Givens tells KVOE News the plan is for over 120 single-family homes covering 30 acres. There is also eight additional acres set aside for a currently-unspecified commercial project. The project would be north of Frontier Farm Credit and west of the Jones Aquatic Center if approved by the Emporia City Commission.
Separately, the Planning Commission will consider a request to rezone several addresses along Michelle Circle and Michelle Street. There is also a request to vacate a platted alley near 2023 West 12th on the agenda.
Tuesday’s meeting is at 6 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
