The Emporia High wrestling teams competed at two different tournaments across the state on Saturday.
The Emporia High girls finished 12th with 109 points at the Christmas Clash in Great Bend. Seven Lady Spartans placed led by Alexa Castillo taking first at 235. Castillo pinned Emma Hahn of Ellinwood in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Kensley Medrano finished third at 120. Heily Batres finished sixth at 115. Chloe Steele finished ninth at 105. Allison Curtis finished 10th at 100. Karah Cooper finished 10th at 125 and Yaneli Carranza finished 15th at 145.
Emporia High will travel to Basehor-Linwood next Saturday.
The Emporia High boys finished 11th at the Douglass Goodwin Invitational in Douglass. Jose Vargas was the only Spartan to place taking second at 285. Vargas dropped a 3-2 decision to Spring Hill’s Gage Wingerter in the championship match.
Emporia High will host the Winter Classic next Saturday.
