After a good turnout for the David Traylor’s first-ever Holiday Light Stroll this past weekend, there is another opportunity to see the zoo lights this upcoming weekend.
The second stroll event is Saturday evening, and Zoo Director Brenda Young is pleased with this new opportunity for people to see the zoo — literally — in a new light.
Young says the event is an offshoot from the Happy Holidaze lighting event just before Thanksgiving, and it’s an event wanted by both zoo patrons and staff.
The stroll is from 5-8 pm and lets people walk amongst the 175,000 individual lights spanning 35,000 feet — or more than six miles — of light strands. Donations are being accepted so Emporia Friends of the Zoo can grow the event in future years.
