Emporian Erik Alvarez won’t be going to trial next month for allegations of raping a child.
As part of a hearing in Lyon County District Court on Thursday, Alvarez waived speedy trial requirements and was set for a pretrial conference March 7 after requesting a continuance. Judge Laura Miser also removed upcoming trial settings, Jan. 27 or Feb. 3, from the docket.
Alvarez faces one count of rape after alleged illegal sexual activity with a child under the age of 18 in January 2021. Court records indicate the alleged victim was no more than 14 years old at the reported incident.
