With its current system nearing the end of its expected lifespan, the Newman Regional Health Board of Directors is replacing its fetal monitor equipment.
The current Peri Calm monitoring software is near the end of its expected lifespan, July 2025, and will not be supported after reaching that time. Board members recently approved a nearly $130,000 purchase of software from GE. Chief Executive Officer Cathy Pimple says this will help doctors and nurses. It will also help delivering mothers if there are signs of stress.
The hospital chose the GE system after reviewing three other systems because of simplicity, similarity to the current system, ease of documentation and cost. The new GE system also allows for remote monitoring, whether in other areas of the clinic or offsite.
Onboarding and testing the new system could take several weeks.
