A new show is coming soon to Emporia State University’s Peterson Planetarium.
“Voyager: The Never-Ending Journey” makes its debut Jan. 9. Planetarium Director Mark Brown, the featured guest on KVOE’s ESU Buzz this week, says Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are still communicating with scientists, even though they launched in 1977 and left the solar system years ago.
Brown says the Voyager missions were vital for expanding our knowledge of the outer solar system, notably Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and their moons. The nearly 30-minute all-dome presentation goes into the Voyager program and some of its discoveries. There will also be a live night sky presentation before the show.
Shows are free to attend and are recommended for people ages 6 and up. Due to limited seating, people must register online at emporia.edu/planetarium.
Shows are set for 4 pm Jan. 9, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30. Other shows are 10 am Jan. 11 and 6 pm Jan. 15.
