Residents impacted by the recent closure announcements from Tyson Foods and Holiday Resort — and those who haven’t but are looking for employment — are encouraged to attend Wednesday’s “Emporia Strong” Jobs and Resource Fair at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
Southeast KansasWORKS has organized the job half of the event, and Assistant Director Katie Givens says the Anderson Building will be full.
The United Way of the Flint Hills has amassed close to 30 service providers inside the Bowyer Building. Here’s CEO Daphne Mertens:
Both Givens and Mertens say they have seen increased need for services after the closure announcements just over a month ago.
Again, the job fair will be at the Anderson Building, while resource information will be at the Bowyer Building. The event goes from 11 am to 5 pm. Attendees are asked to dress for interviews and have updated resumes ready. LCAT will have free rides for attendees if they schedule rides by calling 620-343-4207.
