Brad Marcotte is officially the former superintendent at USD 421 Lyndon.
Marcotte and school board members finalized a separation and release agreement as part of a special meeting last week. As part of the agreement:
*Marcotte resigned effective immediately and was released from his contract with the district
*Marcotte withdrew his request for an appeals hearing
*USD 421 paid Marcotte a lump sum of $20,000. It also agreed to provide basic information about Marcotte’s tenure, including dates of employment, pay, job duties, wage history and voluntary resignation if asked by a potential employer
*Both sides agreed to a mutual confidentiality clause. Both sides also agree they are prohibited from making disparaging comments of any sort on any media about the other side.
Marcotte was arrested in mid-October on suspicion of child endangerment and interference with law enforcement after allegedly drinking alcohol before operating a school bus, but Special Prosecutor Jack Hobbs decided against filing charges, saying there was insufficient evidence in the case. The USD 421 Board of Education put Marcotte on unpaid administrative leave and voted to terminate his contract, but Marcotte appealed.
Paul Dorathy has been serving as interim superintendent since early November. He will join KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 8:20 am.
