Renovations at Little Lyons Childcare are getting a significant boost, thanks to a six-figure donation.
The Little Lyons Board of Directors says it has received an anonymous donation of $350,000. The purpose is twofold: to upgrade the building’s new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and to beautify classrooms once renovations are done.
Ignite Emporia Director Michelle Margeson says the gift reflects “unwavering support from our community.” Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says the funds “will transform our ability to create a nurturing and enriching environment for the children in our care.”
Little Lyons has filled the space open for several years at 19 Constitution after the end of USD 253’s Maynard Early Childhood Center. Ultimately, it will be a 24-7 facility to benefit families with nontraditional schedules, as well as their employers.
Little Lyons says renovations should begin within the next two months and be completed this fall.
