Three Emporia High teams were in action on Saturday.
The Emporia High bowling teams participated in the Bishop Carroll Baker’s Invitational. The Emporia High boys finished fourth out of 34 teams, while the girls finished 14th. Emporia High hosts its next meet on Thursday at Flint Hills Lanes.
After school closing on Friday, the Emporia High girls wrestling team was scheduled to head to Dodge City for a meet, but the Lady Spartans couldn’t make the trip and found another tournament, the Lady Vikes Invitational hosted by Seaman to compete in. Emporia High finished fifth as a team with 155.5 points. Sienna Spaulding (105), Marisol Renteria-Villator (170) and Laila Guerrero each finished third in their weight class. Kensley Medrano (120), Karah Cooper (125) and Allison Curtis (100) each finished fourth. Yaneli Carranza (145), Marley Sewell (140), and Heily Batres (110) each finished fifth. Emporia High travels to Newton for the Tournament of Champions beginning on Wednesday.
