The Kansas Highway Patrol says there has been some progress as troopers investigate an alleged hit-and-run incident on the Kansas Turnpike from this past weekend.
Troopers say the driver of a semi that allegedly hit another semi driver and then left the scene of that wreck Saturday has been identified, as well as the company for whom he works. Troopers are not releasing other information at this time, but they say they are “taking steps to further the investigation.” Any charges would come from the Chase County Attorney’s Office after reports are filed and reviewed.
The incident in question apparently developed on the Kansas Turnpike just southwest of the Matfield Green service exit shortly before 10 am Saturday. The semi that allegedly left the scene backed towards the second semi, driven by 41-year-old Joshua Vaden of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina. Vaden was struck by the first semi, which then collided with Vaden’s semi before it drove off.
Vaden was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita afterward. He had suspected serious injuries. There is no update on his condition.
