The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its second award winner for the year.
SOS Assistant Director Kathryn Wilkerson was honored as Volunteer of the Year during a surprise gathering at an SOS meeting Tuesday. She says she has been drawn to get involved in Emporia because of the community.
Wilkerson is an active member of the Chamber Ambassadors and a vital part of the Chamber’s Annual Meeting Committee. She is also a board member of the Emporia Kiwanis Club.
Wilkerson’s honor follows the one announced Friday as Flint Hills Towing was named the Chamber’s Business of the Year. The Chamber will announce its Community Impact Award and Lifetime Achievement winners over the next week.
The Chamber has its annual meeting Jan. 24 at the Emporia State Memorial Union Webb Hall. Tickets are still available by calling the Chamber at 620-342-1600.
