Country Mart has reopened.
The grocery store in downtown Emporia had been closed since Saturday after a roof support pole “flexed” near the checkstand entrance last week, the result of around 8 inches of snow, up to half an inch of ice and 40-50 mph winds pushing the total accumulation to the main storefront sign above the main entrance.
Store owner Matt Good says the support pole may have flexed, but the roof remains in good shape.
An additional support pole was added Tuesday after work by Evergreen Design-Build, including a structural survey Monday. Good says more long-term repairs will take place within a month or so.
