The city of Emporia is receiving grant funding as part of an affordable housing program through FHLBank Topeka and its local member financial institution, ESB Financial.
The city says it has been awarded $450,000 for rehabilitation efforts benefiting 30 owner-occupied homes, all of which are under the 60-percent Area Median Income limit.
This is part of over $31 million in Affordable Housing Program grants in partnership with FHLBank Topeka’s member financial institutions. ESB Financial is contributing an unspecified amount to this project, according to the city.
For years, Emporia has used grant funds to help residents with home repair needs. It has received AHP grants every year since 2000.
Nearly 1,700 very low, low and moderate income households across Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Oklahoma will have homes as part of this program.
Residents wanting to know more about this grant and what’s being called the 2024 Fix Emporia effort can call Community Development Coordinator Jeff Lynch at 620-343-4285.
