The Emporia State softball team has been slotted eighth in the 2025 MIAA Softball Preseason Coaches Poll. Head coach April Rosales will return to the dugout full-time in 2025 after missing most of the season on maternity leave last year as the Lady Hornets finished 31-20 with a 14-12 MIAA record placing sixth in the MIAA standings to make the MIAA Tournament falling in the first round. E-State returns their top three starting pitchers from a year ago led Gracie Rabe who went 9-10 with a 2.88 ERA in 2025 while Jordan Harrison and Jayda VanAckeren each posted winning records in the circle. The offense will be a total rebuild with the top seven hitters departing to graduation. The leading returning offensive player is Brooke Flewelling who hit .259 while making 32 starts a year ago. She’s joined by Haley Garnett who hit .238 while starting 41 games last season. ESU opens the 2025 campaign at the Branson Lead-Off Classic this weekend as they take on Oklahoma Baptist in Branson Mo Friday. Opening Day at the Trusler Sports Complex is set for Friday, March 28 as the Lady Hornets host Nebraska-Kearney in MIAA action.
