It was quick work for the Emporia High boys basketball team at Wichita Independent on Friday.
The Spartans began the game on a 17-0 run and never looked back in a 79-15 victory over the Panthers. Emporia High led 45-5 at halftime which triggered a running clock for the entire second half. Five Spartans scored in double figures led by Madden Seidl’s career-high 14 points. Tanner Seidl had a career high 12 off the bench. Nolan Jacob also added 12, while Harry Trelc and Rylan Crowell each had 11. Emporia High coach Lee Baldwin said it was a team effort from everyone.
Emporia High is 8-4 and jumps back into Centennial League play on Tuesday at Topeka High.
Meanwhile, the Emporia High girls fell to Wichita South in a consolation semifinal of the Glacier’s Edge Tournament, 47-28. Adeiah Heffner led Emporia High with a career-high 15 points. Emporia High is 1-10 and will play for seventh place in the JV gym at Emporia High at 11 a.m. Saturday against Wichita Northwest. The RV-Doc Pregame Show is at 10:45 a.m. on KVOE. In the consolation championship, it’ll be Wichita South taking on Topeka High at 11 a.m. in the main gym. The third place game features Wichita Heights and Shawnee Mission South. The championship game features Derby and Seaman.
