Economic development projects are front and center for the Emporia City Commission’s meeting schedule Wednesday.
Commissioners are tentatively set to approve the following as part of their action meeting:
*An ordinance to establish a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District and adopt a development agreement for the 502 Lofts redevelopment project at 502 Commercial
*A separate ordinance to authorize taxable Industrial Revenue Bonds for Capital Holdings, LLC, for construction of 16 residential duplexes across Emporia.
*Acceptance of a $450,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka’s Affordable Housing program. Funds could rehabilitate 30 owner-occupied homes
*A resolution to have the Public Building Commission issue nearly $16 million in Revenue Bonds for building and equipping the city’s fire stations.
Two executive sessions are planned before commissioners move to a study session, one for economic development and one for legal matters.
The study meeting agenda includes a discussion on transient guest tax revenue, information from Tyler Technology on asset management and a downtown Emporia common consumption area.
The action meeting begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room. The study meeting follows at White Auditorium City Conference Room 1AB.
