Current Haag Pharmacy owner Amber Haag says customers shouldn’t see anything different once Community Healthcare Collective officially takes ownership and the business changes its name to Newman Community Rx on March 1.
Haag says the pharmacy will continue offering traditional pharmacy services as well as medication synchronization, compounding services, medication therapy management, hormone replacement therapy, compliance packaging, immunizations, their exclusive N+Addition line of nutritional supplements, and special packaging for patients residing in assisted living/long-term care facilities.
On top of that, Haag says this move lets her return her focus to areas of patient care she believes are important.
On KVOE’s Talk of Emporia later in the day Friday, Newman Regional Health CEO Cathy Pimple was asked whether the hospital will have a role in managing the pharmacy. Pimple says the hospital is taking on a support role instead, and she says it’s important to have a locally-owned pharmacy, especially in a rural setting.
Also, Pimple says there will be no change for Newman Regional Health’s in-house pharmacy operations as part of the Haag Pharmacy sale.
Haag purchased the pharmacy, then known as Medicine Shoppe, from longtime owner Don Hill in October 2013. the business changed its name to Haag Pharmacy in 2017, but it has been serving Emporia and surrounding communities since 1885.
