Lyon County Emergency Communications Center Supervisor Sarah Jensen is headed to Washington D.C. later this month.
As part of their regular action meeting Thursday morning County Commissioners approved Jensen’s travel to the nation’s capital where she will receive the 2025 NG911 Institute’s Safety Professional of the Year award during the institute’s annual awards ceremony February 25-26.
Separately, Thursday, commissioners approved a low bid of just over $19,800 from Ray Roofing for repairs at the Lyon County Highway Department and a better-than-$46,600 quote from John North Ford for a new work truck for the department. Both quotes were submitted by Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods, who also sought approval to close a portion of Locust Street (Road 240) in Americus for the Flint Hills Gravel Ride on Friday, April 11.
Commissioners also held one executive session for non-elected personnel matters with no action taken. The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for their weekly action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
