Besides Founders Day activities Friday, Emporia State University is getting ready for its annual Day of Giving.
The fundraising blitz begins at midnight Saturday morning, and Director of Alumni Relations Tiffany Wilson calls it “24 hours of action-packed, focused fundraising.” She says this helps to provide “critical resources” for scholarships, academics and athletics.
Funds will also augment professor mentorship programs in Physical Sciences and the School of Business and Technology
This is the fourth year for Emporia State’s Day of Giving, and donations have increased from over $60,000 the first year to $95,000 last year, including over 200 donors and 55 funds being bolstered. This year’s goal is $100,000, and there is over $30,000 in matching funds committed to the effort.
To donate, go online to emporia.edu/dayofgiving. ESU will have social media posts on its Facebook and Instagram platforms.
Meanwhile, Founders Day will include the annual lunch at Memorial Union Webb Hall at noon, numerous events celebrating the Union’s 100th anniversary starting at 1:15 pm and the grand opening of the Donald Reichardt Center for Publishing and Literary Arts’ new podcasting and cinematography studio at 2:30 pm.
