Recent winter storms have done little to ease our current dry conditions.
The US Drought Monitor still has the south half of Chase County as drought-free — but the rest of the area, including all of Lyon County, is abnormally dry, the mildest level of drought on the scale.
The KVOE listening area has had a foot or slightly more of snowfall since a winter storm Jan. 4-5. Most of that snow has been of a dry, powdery nature, with little moisture content.
