The Emporia State men’s tennis team picked up a sweep over Friends at the Kossover Family Tennis Center Friday. Gwendal Mazuay and Alexis Mattenberger played their first match of the season at #2 doubles and stayed undefeated with a 6-2 win while Anton Sarunic and Luke West clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph at #1. Harris Kossover and Duvan Santiago Torres earned a sweep at doubles with a 6-1 win at #3. Mostafa Elbasnaly took over the #1 singles slot and dropped just one game in a straight-sets win. Santiago Torres played his first singles match of the spring season and won 6-1, 6-2. Mattenberger clinched the dual win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #3 singles. ESU clinched the other three matches without much resistance as the Falcons won just three games in the last three matches combined. ESU returns to action tomorrow to host Sterling.
