The 137th annual Emporia St. David’s Day concert is coming this weekend.
Activities will take place Sunday at 2:30 p.m. inside the Emporia Presbyterian Church west campus, 1702 West 15th Avenue. According to recent KVOE Morning Show guest Susan Evans Atchison, you can join the St. David’s Day choir to be involved in the festivities.
While Emporia’s activities are slotted for Sunday, St. David’s Day events for the local area begin Thursday in Lebo with the Welsh Tea at the Lebo United Methodist Church. Organizer Michelle Cooper.
The Welsh Tea will take place from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Tea and All activities are free to attend and open to the community. Tea and refreshments will also be served following Sunday’s concert.
St. David, the patron saint of Wales, lived in the Sixth Century and was well-known for his preaching ability and for founding monasteries and churches in Wales and southwest England.
