The Emporia Recreation Commission has begun interviewing candidates for the permanent Rec Director position.
ERC members conducted the first of supposedly two sets of candidate interviews via Zoom Thursday evening. According to ERC Board Chair Jeremy Dorsey four candidates were interviewed, however, whether any of said candidates were eliminated from the list following Thursday’s meeting has not been announced.
A second, in-person set of interviews will take place at a later time a date for which has yet to be announced. Dorsey told KVOE News earlier this month they had received 9-10 applications for the position which was posted January 1.
The chosen candidate will takeover for longtime director Tom McEvoy who retired last year. Amanda Gutierrez has been serving as interim director since that time and was among the candidate pool for the permanent position.
ERC members have not said whether Gutierrez has moved to the final list of candidates.
