More street openings and closings are in effect as Emporia’s 24th and Prairie waterline replacement project continues.
The city reopened 24th between Prairie and Apple on Friday, and it has several openings taking place this week:
*Prairie Street between 18th Avenue and Ashley II Residences will be open to southbound-only traffic. Prairie will be two-way traffic between Ashley II and 15th.
There is a longer list of street closures, however.
*The 18th and Prairie intersection will be closed in all directions for up to a month.
*Jones Park Drive will be closed at Prairie Street for up to a week for paving.
*Southbound Prairie at 21st and Schaeffer Way will be closed to thru traffic until further notice
*Southbound Prairie at 24th will be closed to thru traffic until further notice. The official detour will be east on 24th to Lincoln.
This is all part of an ongoing effort to build out over two miles of new waterline. Construction could last into this upcoming fall.
