You will be hearing more about the 2025 election cycle in the coming days and weeks.
This year’s election involves races for mayor, City Commission, City Council and school board positions.
*For the Emporia City Commission, terms of commissioners Susan Brinkman, Tyler Curtis and Jamie Sauder are set to expire.
*For USD 253 Emporia Public Schools, seats held by Lillian Lingenfelter, Jami Reever and Dr Jennifer Thomas are up for election.
*At USD 251 North Lyon County, terms of board members Josh Hamlin, Russ Heins and Perry Petersen are expiring.
*USD 252 has seats currently held by Tim Bailey, Melissa Carson and Ryan Gasche that are up for election.
Residents need to file with the Lyon County Clerk’s Office by noon June 2. A $70 filing fee is required. Residents with questions can call the County Clerk’s Office at 620-341-3417.
The primary election is Aug. 5. The general election is Nov. 4.
