One driver was cited after three vehicles were collected in a wreck in northwest Emporia early Sunday afternoon.
The wreck was originally reported shortly after 12:15 pm at 18th and Industrial, but Emporia Police Officer Sinjin Andrews says the incident actually unfolded at Walmart’s southern entrance. A northbound SUV was in the process of turning west into the main parking lot. Southbound traffic in the inside lane was stopped due to the light at 18th and Industrial, and there was a space left for the SUV to go through. However, Andrews says southbound traffic in the outside lane was still flowing towards the stoplight. The SUV driver did not see a car in the southbound outside lane and the two vehicles collided. The SUV then partially rolled, bumping an eastbound crossover SUV waiting to leave the parking lot.
Initially, the crash was reported as leading to possible injuries, but Emporia Fire says nobody was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The SUV driver was cited for failure to yield.
