Emporia’s annual St. Patrick’s activities are coming Saturday, and there will be a special Common Consumption Area involving parts of downtown.
The Emporia Main Street CCA will be in effect for all the St Patrick’s events, including the annual parade, activities at Town Royal and the pub crawl. Main Street’s CCA involves:
*Merchant and Commercial, both from Third to 12th
*Constitution from Fifth to Ninth
*Market from Fifth to the south half of Market’s 600 block
*Union from Fifth to Sixth
The Main Street CCA is separate from the city of Emporia’s CCA, which is still awaiting final approval but should be in effect by some time in April.
Emporia Police is encouraging residents to enjoy responsibly during Saturday’s activities. Residents also have to keep alcohol in the designated CCA and must drink “in approved cups from participating vendors.” Public intoxication, driving under the influence, underage drinking and disorderly conduct will not be tolerated.
The Main Street CCA begins at noon, between the start of the pub crawl at 11 am and the parade at 1 pm.
