State Basketball Tournaments begin Wednesday at seven sites across Kansas.
Six area teams have qualified for state with three set to take the floor on day one. Five teams will be featured on the KVOE Network of Stations with two playing on Wednesday.
The Lebo girls are the No. 2 seed in Class 1A-Division II with a 20-2 record and will face Hodgeman County, the No. 7 seed, at 18-5. Lebo girls coach Patrick Gardner said the Lady Wolves need to take care of the basketball.
Tipoff from the Colby Event Center is at 6 p.m. with the Mel’s Tire Pregame Show at 5:40 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
The Chase County boys are making their first trip to state since 1993 in Class 2A. The Bulldogs are the No. 7 seed at 14-9 and will take on Sterling, the No. 2 seed, at 20-3. Chase County boys coach Cade Witte said the Bulldogs have to be good defensively.

The Osage City girls are the No. 3 seed in Class 3A with a 22-1 record facing the No. 6 seed Colby with a 21-2 record. Osage City girls coach Kate Boss said she’s confident in her team heading into state.
Osage City and Colby will meet at 4 p.m. for a trip to the semifinals.
The KVOE Network of Stations will have three more quarterfinals on day two of state tournaments. The Olpe boys are the No. 1 seed in Class 1A-Division I with a 21-2 record and will face Little River, the No. 8 seed, with a 15-7 record at 2 p.m. in Dodge City. The Mel’s Tire Pregame Show is at 1:40 p.m. on Country 101.7. The Lebo boys are the No. 6 seed in Colby taking on No. 3 Dighton at 8 p.m. with the Mel’s Tire Pregame Show at 7:40 p.m. on Mix 104.9. The Chase County girls are the No. 3 seed in Manhattan with a 20-3 record and will face No. 6 seed Doniphan West at 8 p.m. with the Mel’s Tire Pregame Show at 7:45 p.m. on Country 101.7.
