A chase that allegedly began in Franklin County and ended in Lyndon has led to formal charges of attempted murder and other counts.
Franklin County deputies say they were dispatched to an address just east of Pomona shortly after 2 am Tuesday after a report of shots fired into a home as a suspect allegedly left the scene of a burglary at an occupied house.
Deputies say they saw a vehicle matching the description from unspecified reports and gave chase after the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Curtis Lucas, hometown not listed, failed to stop. The chase went westbound on Kansas Highway 68 through Pomona and Quenemo before ending in Lyndon. Lucas allegedly fled the scene after stop stick deployment disabled his car. A search involving Franklin and Osage county deputies and K-9 units led to Lucas, who was arrested without further incident.
Lucas now faces formal charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated residential burglary, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, felony flee and elude, felony theft and driving while suspended. His first appearance is Thursday.
No injuries were reported at the home where shots were fired. No other injuries were reported as the alleged incident developed.
