The Emporia State softball team started their trip to Florida with a pair of victories Friday afternoon. The Lady Hornets picked up their first win over Bemidji State 2-0. ESU picked up their second win with an 8-0 run rule of Lake Erie. Gracie Rabe (6-6) went the distance for E-State with a complete game three-hit shutout. A Haley Garnett walk gave ESU their only earned run of the game. The ESU bats warmed up in the second game with seven runs in the first two innings before plating the knockout score to force the run rule in the bottom of the fifth. Jayda VanAckeren (4-1) won her third straight appearance giving up just two walks in the five innings while Juliana De Luna drove in three runs. ESU returns to action for an 8:00 a.m. doubleheader Saturday and wraps up the east coast swing with a 9:30 a.m. doubleheader on Sunday.
