City and county leadership will convene for a joint meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The joint meeting between the city and county commissions will follow the city’s regular action meeting Wednesday morning. As part of the action agenda, city leaders will consider authorizing improvements related to the city’s SE transmission water main project not to exceed $7 million.
An ordinance approving a franchise agreement between Emporia and Kansas Gas Service and the schedule for the city’s 2025 Spring Landfill Days taking place between April 26th and May 4th will also see consideration and possible approval.
Following adjournment of the action meeting, commissioners will convene with their counterparts from the county in the Lyon County Courthouse jury assembly room. Items of business for the joint session will include discussions on “How to administer future city limits” and the city/county mill levy.
The action meeting will begin at 11 am inside of the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium with the joint session scheduled to begin at 11:30 am.
The joint session will come just a day before the Lyon County Commission convenes for its weekly action session. During the meeting, commissioners will consider a pair of requests from Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods, who will seek approval of a quote from Foley Equipment for a used 2017 Caterpillar motor grader and a 2005 Caterpillar 12H grader totaling more than $192,000. Commissioners will also consider a quote from Frank Black Pipe and Supply for approximately 2,750 feet of used 12-inch casing for $44,000.
Lyon County Emergency Communications Center Director Roxanne Van Gundy will also submit a pair of requests, the first being a signature for a proclamation recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, April 13th through the 19th. The second request will seek approval for paying a five-year warranty for the 800 Mhz radio systems and Eventide logger to Motorola for more than $141,800.
The commission’s weekly meeting will begin at 10:30 am Thursday inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
