One hundred schools across Kansas have been honored with Challenge Awards as announced by the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force.
Honored schools across the KVOE listening area include:
*USD 245 Southern Coffey County Elementary
*USD 389 Eureka’s Marshall Elementary
*USD 417 Council Grove Junior-Senior High
*USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Elementary
Challenge Awards are distributed for “outstanding achievement and uncommon accomplishments of students.” The program uses Kansas Assessment Program results in math and reading, specifically for ethnic minority groups qualifying for free and reduced-price meals. High school graduation rates, as well as high school and middle school chronic absentee rates, are also factors.
