Messiah Lutheran Church is opening up the Lyon County Fairgrounds for worship on Sunday.
As has been the case now for around 15 years, the main parking lot near the Anderson Building will be open to the public for the church’s annual Easter drive-in service. Interim Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier says the event has remained a holiday staple for several reasons.
Tegtmeier oversaw the rebirth of the event in 2010 and will lead the service for the first time in several years after the departure of prior pastor Eddie Hosch to Hawaii.
The service is at 8:30 am Easter Sunday and typically lasts about 30 minutes. Residents attending the service are asked to bring non-perishable food items to bolster supplies at the Salvation Army food pantry. Residents across the area can tune in to KVOE 1400 AM and 96.9 FM, as well as KVOE.com, to listen to the service.
