Strong storms may affect the KVOE listening area in two separate waves by Monday evening.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says there are still some variables yet to resolve, but we could see isolated supercell activity by early evening, leading to all possible severe weather hazards.
Once the risk of isolated supercells ends, more widespread storms could move across the area by early Tuesday morning. The main concerns are hail to the size of golf balls and 70 mph winds. Tornadoes are not expected overnight, but rounds of heavy rain could cause localized flooding.
All area counties are in a slight severe weather risk for this activity.
The chance of severe weather and heavy rainfall comes after a damp and humid weekend. Rain totals:
*KVOE studios: 0.25 inches, including 0.20 inches Saturday
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.13 inches Saturday
*1100 block Constitution: 0.25 inches total
*10th and Weaver: 0.20 inches total
*Allen: 0.25 inches total
*Eureka Milliken Airport: 0.10 inches Saturday
More showers and storms are possible through Thursday night and again for the upcoming weekend, but severe weather is currently not expected.
KVOE and KVOE.com will have forecast updates through the day and severe weather reports as needed, including information from the KVOE Storm Team spotter network. Information will also be available through Facebook and Instagram, both @kvoenews, and X@kvoeam1400.

It could be a stormy start to the work week for the KVOE listening area based on the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
NWS currently has the entire listening area under a slight risk for severe storm activity through the start of the week. NWS anticipates there could be two or more supercell storm systems that develop between the early evening to overnight hours with the most likely time frame for storm development coming around or after 6 pm.
All hazards will be possible, however, the main concerns are for large hail and damaging winds. KVOE will have updates on the storm potential as it continues to develop as well as live coverage on any severe storm development on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
