Hartford will be searching for a new football coach.
After three seasons, Danen Kistner has announced he’s stepping down as head football coach. Kistner announced on social media on Saturday that he has been named the next boys basketball coach at Clifton-Clyde. In addition to his football coaching duties at Hartford, Kistner was an assistant coach for girls basketball and track and field.
Kistner said it was a tough decision to leave Hartford.
Kistner, a 2017 graduate of Hartford, helped the Jaguars to consecutive runner-up finishes in Class 1A-Division II in boys basketball in 2016 and 2017. After graduating from Hartford, Kistner attended Bethel College and played basketball. After college, Kistner returned to Hartford and coached girls basketball and football at the middle school level before taking the head football coach position in 2022.
Kistner said he’s excited for a new challenge at Clifton-Clyde.
Kistner is the second area football coach to step down within the last week. Emporia High coach Kaden Glinsmann resigned after two seasons. Emporia High will be looking for its third football coach in four years.
