Current Board of Zoning Appeals and Metropolitan Area Planning Commission Vice-Chair Tammi Ogle says her time on both boards partly fueled her desire to file for election to the Emporia City Commission.
Ogle, currently a Prior Authorization Review Nurse for Gainwell Technologies and former preschool teacher through USD 253 Emporia, says she plans to be “approachable” and diligent in listening to the community and its residents both throughout her campaign and if elected to serve on the commission.
As for the main topics she plans to focus on as part of her campaign, Ogle says she has not narrowed down the exact issues just yet but says there is no shortage of areas to choose from.
Ogle is the fourth individual to file for election to the city commission, joining former planning commission member Monica Duncan, Aaron Larson, Kurt Steinkuhler and incumbent Tyler Curtis on the ballot. Incumbent Jamie Sauder has not announced his re-election plan, while Susan Brinkman is not seeking re-election.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is noon June 2. The primary election, if needed, is Aug. 5. The general election is Nov. 4. Positions for mayor, City Council, City Commission and school board are on this year’s ballot.
