Former Emporia Police Chief Scott Cronk has passed away.
Cronk passed away Wednesday at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita at the age of 66. Cronk, a native of El Dorado, spent 36 years with the Emporia Police Department, beginning his career in 1983. Cronk was named interim Chief of Police in 2012 and then permanent Chief in 2013.
Cronk served as police chief until his retirement in 2020. In addition to his career as an officer, Cronk also enjoyed participating in demolition derbies, racing at Humboldt Speedway and collecting cars.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 2 pm at William L. White Auditorium with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the auditorium at 1 pm.
