La Grind is back this weekend in downtown Emporia with some new additions to the schedule this year.
The 2025 event will see several new offerings, according to race organizer Tom Hayden, a guest of KVOE’s Morning Show Friday.
Last year’s event brought nearly 300 riders to the downtown corridor and Hayden says he anticipates a similar, if not slightly larger, turnout for this weekend’s event. He says the goal is to make gravel riding accessible to as many people as possible.
La Grind will launch from in front of High Gear Cyclery, 520 Commercial Street, at 9 am both Saturday and Sunday. The finish line party will also take place in front of High Gear.
As always, proceeds from La Grind will go to benefit Handlebars of Hope, which provides bikes to individuals both locally and in Mexico free of charge.
