US Highway 50 traffic immediately west of Emporia will be adjusted — and slowed — as part of a bridge repair project Monday.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority says US-50 will be one-lane traffic between 9 am and 3 pm between Road G, also known as Americus Road, and Overlander Road. A flagger will direct traffic during the six-hour stretch in question.
A westbound over-height load on US-50 damaged the northbound Kansas Turnpike bridge on April 18, slicing through at least two I-beams supporting the bridge and damaging several others. Temporary shoring near the bridge is also planned this month. Full repair plans beyond these measures have not been announced.
