The Emporia State women’s tennis team trailed 3-0 early and battled back to tie but fell 4-3 to Central Oklahoma in the first round of the MIAA Women’s Tournament on Friday. The Bronchos took the doubles point to open up the dual winning two of three doubles matches. The Bronchos then picked up wins at #1 and #4 singles to put the Lady Hornets on the brink of elimination, but E-State responded with three must-win match points in a row with wins from Paige Stranghoner, Perla Conde, and Anastasia Pesic, but Yulia Klimova dropped three games in a row in the second set to fall 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 as the ‘Chos advanced to the semifinals.
