If you were to use golf terms to grade the annual Denim and Diamonds Golf Tournament, based on turnout and support, it would be safe to call it a hole in one.
This year’s tournament more than doubled participation numbers from 2024, which, in the opinion of Newman Marketing Specialist Saylor Middleton, says a lot about the support and understanding of the hospital’s importance to the local community.
32 teams took part in the tournament, which served as a lead-in to the core of Denim and Diamonds activities. Up next will be the annual kickoff BBQ in the hospital parking lot from 11 am to 1 pm Thursday.
Newman Regional Health Public Relations and Outreach Specialist Kacie Hastings will join KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 8:20 am Monday to preview the BBQ event. All activities will lead up to the main event on August 1 inside of Emporia State University’s Webb Hall.
Tickets will go on sale July 1, however, Middleton says that based on support from local sponsors and community partners, residents won’t want to wait to get theirs, as she can’t be sure how many tickets will be available to the public.
All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go to support new imaging equipment and upgrades to the hospital’s WS and EC Jones Cardiovascular Lab. For a full schedule of upcoming activities and events, visit NewmanRH.org.
Fundraising totals from the golf tournament are currently pending.
