A Wichita resident suffered potentially serious injuries following a motorcycle crash in Chase County early Saturday evening.
Emergency crews were called to mile marker 103.4 northbound on the Kansas Turnpike, or between the Matfield Green service exit and Flint Hills cattle pens exit, just after 5 pm. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, a 2006 Honda Shadow motorcycle driven by 59-year-old Stacey Gomez was northbound in the area and failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle exited the roadway to the right, collided with a delineator post and overturned.
Gomez was transported by LifeSave helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with suspected serious injuries.
Later Saturday, Emporia Fire and Lyon County deputies responded to a reported injury crash near Roads 170 and F after an SUV rolled shortly before 8:30 pm. Fire Capt. Wade Schmidt says two men were observed on site and declined ambulance trips to a hospital afterward.
